Here's a film of surprising power and fluidity, considering director-producer Arwen Curry began the feature documentary all the way back in 2009 and didn't complete it until this year. Typically, films don't take nine years to finish unless they have been hit by severe production problems--say, film footage goes missing or gets damaged, or perhaps a camera operator dies before wrapping the work. In this instance, the delay doesn't seem to reflect any major technical snafus but rather represents a conscious desire on Curry's part to follow author Ursula K. Once again, a major movie industry publication has listed Santa Fe as one of the nation's top small cities for filmmakers, while also listing Albuquerque as the No. 1 big city for making films.
Moviemaker magazine, which bills itself as "the world's most widely read independent film magazine," last week published its annual lists of best places for filmmakers to live. READ MORE
KOB4 - Local Filmmaker's Movie to Premiere After Being Featured on Reality Competition Show
On Friday, you could see "Monday"--the name of a new movie premiering as part of the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival's lineup.
The journey to get the film to the big screen, however, started on the small screen.
Local filmmaker Alejandro Montoya took part in a reality competition series called "Rebel Without A Crew" with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, in which he and other amateur auteurs had the chance to create their movies while overcoming some hurdles in the process. READ MORE

The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival this week announced its first 10 feature film selections, including pictures from Japanese, Brazilian and South Korean directors, as well as a documentary about the popular Santa Fe-based arts collective Meow Wolf.
