Film premieres, filmmakers from around the globe, awards galas, celebrity guests, and spectacular parties erupt into the main event this October.

The Santa Fe Independent Film Fest begins October 17th and comes to a close October 21st, presenting films, discussions and parties in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Over 100 films and events, five days and nights of community events, galas, educational panels and discussions, the hottest independent films of 2018 and much more. Films will be screened at art house cinemas all around Santa Fe including The Lensic Performing Arts Center, Jean Cocteau Cinema, the Center for Contemporary Arts, CCA's the Screen, and Violet Crown at The Railyard. Panels will be held at Santa Fe Playhouse.

The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival (SFIFF) began in 2009 as a fringe festival that took place in a community center. By 2011 it was the largest event of its kind in New Mexico, screening over 100 films during a 5 day Fest. SFIFF has grown from humble beginnings to becoming one of the top annual events in New Mexico and has effectively extended the tourism season in Santa Fe into late October.
This past year for the 9th Annual Festival, the festival honored John Sayles and Maggie Renzi with the Lifetime Achievement Award, writer N. Scott Momaday was presented SFIFF's Lifetime Achievement Award by Robert Redford and SFIFF welcomed our returning guests John Waters, Chris Eyre, George R.R. Martin, and Wes Studi. SFIFF also featured a screening and Q&A with Ethan Hawke, screened over 100 films, and hosted panels with visiting filmmakers.

SFIFF WAS NAMED ONE OF MOVIEMAKER MAGAZINE'S 50 FESTIVALS WORTH THE ENTRY FEE FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
