The Santa Fe New Mexican - Screenwriter/producer Ellis joins SFIFF advisory board
Kirk Ellis has been appointed to the advisory board of the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival.
The excellent HBO miniseries John Adams, which he wrote and for which he received an Emmy, is probably Ellis' most celebrated credit; the Santa Fean has been writing and producing since the 80s. A film festival press release notes he's currently working on Bound for the Promised Land, another historical HBO project, this one centered on Harriet Tubman, and IMDB lists a producing credit on an intriguing project in pre-production.
Ellis is plenty familiar with SFIFF, having been involved with the festival since 2012, moderating panels and leading workshops.
He joins an advisory board that includes Gary Farmer, Chris Eyre, Alton Walpole, Xavier Horan, Beth Caldarello, Kim Ginoza Green, Joe Ray Sandoval, Marissa Juarez, Paul Langland, Dillon Sachs and Sherry Boyles.
Submissions for the 2016 festival (which will run Oct. 19 through 23) are being fielded now.
