Kirk Ellis joins Santa Fe Independent Film Festival advisory board
SANTA FE, N.M. The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival is pleased to announce award-winning screenwriter and producer Kirk Ellis has joined the festival's advisory board.
"It is both an honor and a pleasure," Ellis said. "Jacques and Liesette Paisner and their team have created a must-attend event in a remarkably short time, and put Santa Fe indelibly on the world festival map. Their dedication to truly independent and alternative filmmaking is to be commended."
Over his three-decades-long career, Ellis has won two Emmys, alongside a handful of other prominent awards including the Humanitas Prize and Writers Guild of America Award. In particular, his work on the HBO hit show "John Adams" earned him accolades from critics and audiences alike.
Ellis is now writing for "Bound for the Promised Land," an HBO film starring Oscar-nominated Viola Davis as Harriet Tubman.
SFIFF Executive Director Jacques Paisner says Ellis' expertise will help guide the festival's mission to bring the best films and auteurs the independent world has to offer to Santa Fe.
"Kirk has been a vital and creative supporter of the festival, hosting masters discussions with guests such as George RR Martin and Hampton Sides," said Jacques Paisner, the festival's executive director. "We welcome his leadership and insights as not just an Emmy award-winning writer but as a lover of film festivals."
Ellis has been involved with SFIFF since 2012 when he led a screenwriting workshop, and has moderated various festival panels and film discussions since.
